The BioClima project officially launched with a successful online kick-off meeting, bringing together European and Chinese partners. The meeting, led by Tomas Mildorf from the University of West Bohemia, introduced the project’s mission of enhancing biodiversity monitoring and climate change mitigation through international collaboration.

Participants reviewed the project objectives, work packages, and key milestones for the upcoming months. Representatives from the European Commission’s Research Executive Agency highlighted the importance of effective project management, communication, and impact-driven dissemination.

Work package leaders outlined their technical plans, covering integrated climate and biodiversity observations, Earth observation data analysis, AI-driven modelling, case studies, and stakeholder engagement. The session concluded with discussions on project governance, internal communication tools, and preparations for an in-person meeting in Prague.

The kick-off marked an important step in strengthening EU–China cooperation on environmental sustainability and scientific innovation.
