About the University of Bucharest
The University of Bucharest is one of Romania’s leading academic institutions, with the Faculty of Geography playing a key role in research on geosciences, landscape dynamics, environmental risk, and ecosystem management. The UB team combines scientific modeling, field monitoring, earth observation, and geospatial technologies to address the challenges of biodiversity loss, climate change and natural hazards, particularly in protected and vulnerable landscapes such as the Carpathians and the Danube region.

With expertise in both applied and theoretical geography, UB is at the forefront of integrating geo-spatial data, citizen science, and policy evaluation.

Role in BioClima
UB leads efforts in case study implementation and spatial assessment of climate and biodiversity indicators. Their team contributes to the design of monitoring strategies and evaluation frameworks tailored to both urban and rural protected areas.
